Popular engagement ring styles blend in and out of fashion, just as wedding dresses do. Prior to 1886, when the solitaire setting was created, diamonds were recessed into a bezel so only the top of the diamond was showing. Since then, the trend to elevate the diamond onto “claws” to allow more light underneath continued, and the raised round brilliant cut diamond remains a desirable choice to this day.
However, when we take a look at what celebrities and fashionistas the world over are showcasing on this year’s red carpets, its the more intricate and original styles that we are seeing more of.
The Vintage Halo
Take for example the Halo – a beautiful design that features a beautiful circle of diamonds adding extra brilliance and sparkle to the center piece.
Shane Paradise, Jewellery Designer of Paradise Jewellers says – “this design is feminine and romantic and the circle of diamonds allows the centrepiece to radiate brilliance and light into a simple modern design.”
The Retro Emerald Cut
The Emerald Cut is gaining in popularity following the engagement of George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin and his choice of this elegant art deco style. The Emerald Cut diamond is created using the ‘step cut’ method with rectangular facets and is designed to draw attention to the diamond’s shine. Beautifully distinct this setting has a sophisticated, vintage look and are rarer than princess or round cut styles.
Eternity Bands as Engagement Rings
The trend to stack beautiful rings on top of one another allows you to mark life’s milestones in a timeless and creative way. Traditionally eternity bands are given on anniversaries or at the birth of a child – but the eternity band as engagement ring is one of the hottest trends for 2015. Blending a range of styles and colours this look gives you flexibility and more subtle stunning look.
You can only create lifelong brilliance with any of these updated versions of proven classics. Come into either of our boutiques at Robina or Pacific Fair to enquire about any of these styles for yourself – or have our expert design team customise something special just for you.
Real Wedding Feature – Janelle and Tom
This month we are delighted to share Janelle and Tom Mason’s story about their experience with Paradises Facet 58 Jewellers Robina. A lovely couple who recently celebrated their wedding.
“When I was presented with one of Paradises Facet 58 Jewellers beautiful diamond engagement rings, from my now husband, it was the most stunning ring I had ever seen. He had worked with Jennifer to choose something that was absolutely beautiful to me. It far surpassed anything I had ever dreamt of and I feel so lucky to have one of their pieces. I then consulted with Jennifer to choose my wedding ring. Knowing that I wanted something unique, Jennifer suggested a band that both my husband thought was perfect!
The service and individual care you get from Paradises Facet 58 Jewellers is second to none – I felt as if they really listened to what I wanted and made suggestions to help guide me toward the right choice. They made the entire process from start to finish incredibly enjoyable and comfortable, one of the only easy things when planning a wedding. It is always a pleasure to visit the girls at Paradises Facet 58 Jewellers in Robina to get my rings clean, they are always welcoming.
Thank you so much Jennifer and the team at Paradises Facet 58 Jewellers for making my dreams come true.” ….Tom & Janelle Mason
